'Tis the season of holiday cheer and Champaign toasts, and as this month's book succinctly puts it: "Every great drink starts with a plant". The Drunken Botanist is maybe the only book that sits in the center of the "cookbook, horticultural reference fuide, and obscure histories" Venn diagram, but much like red pepper to hot chocolate, the seemingly odd combination results in something delightful! Informative, witty, and surprisingly beautifully composed, The Drunken Botanis is full of enjoyable facts and histories about the plants that create the world's favorite mixers, cocktails, and mocktails. After the book discussion, participants will tour the zoo's conservatories and a few Christmas light festooned landscapes to view in-person a few prized 'ingredients' in person.
Meeting point: Please meet at the Broadway entrance to the Toledo Zoo.
This is a rain-or-shine, indoor/outdoor event. Please dress and plan accordingly.
The price of this tour includes admission to the Lights Before Christmas at the Toledo Zoo and complimentary parking. The book is not included.
