Event overview
August has proven to have some of the best birding in southern Arizona. The chance of seeing some of the rarer birds that may come up from Mexico are higher during this time and migrants are starting to pass through to their wintering grounds. Hummingbirds, while excellent to study here year-round, are more abundant, as well. The specialty resident birds and breeders are still around such as Thick-billed Kingbird, Elegant Trogon and Sulphur-bellied Flycatcher. All in all, this is a must-do trip for any birder due to the diversity of species and beautiful, desert views.
