10:30am - Noon
By this time of year, our vegetable gardens are producing bountiful harvests and we've enjoying the homegrown fruits of our labor. But what about all of those daily â'fancy foods we allow ourselves â the coffee we drink in the morning, the chocolate we've stashed away from kids and coworkers, or the vanilla that makes everything sweet taste better â where do all of those foods grow? Well thanks to a few greenhouses and the ministrations of our horticulture staff, many "fancy foods" can be found growing right here at your Toledo Zoo! Join us on this tour as we explore the gardens and conservatories to discuss how to grow some of the kitchen's most luxurious ingredients, and after, participants will enjoy some homemade vanilla ice-cream made with vanilla produced at the zoo!
Meeting point: Please meet at the bronze panda statues outside the ticket booths at the Anthony Wayne Trail entrance. The group will enter the zoo together and walk to multiple locations across the grounds.
This is a rain-or-shine event. Please dress and plan accordingly.
The price of this tour includes admission to the Toledo Zoo and complimentary parking in the Anthony Wayne parking lot.
Due to the limited space, no rainchecks or refunds
