Climate Change Symposium

Come join us at the Toledo Zoo for the Climate Change Symposium in the beautiful Malawi Event Center on Thursday, February 21, 2019, 10:00am-1:00pm. Presenters include scientists, researchers, and professors from Polar Bears International, The Ohio State University, the University of Toledo, Alaska Sea Life Center and The Toledo Zoo. The symposium is free and open to the public.



Wild Walks

These 45 to 60 minute tours explore one of our popular exhibits. Classes will be divided into groups of 30. Concurrent tours are available to accommodate larger groups.

Outreach Programs


Lucas County Outreach

Outreach Programs Introduce STEM and life science topics with 45-minute programs that are aligned to state standards. Every program features a Zoo Educator, 3 live animals and hands-on exploration of preserved animal pieces. Programs are designed for groups up to 35 participants.

Lucas County pricing: $45 for the first program and $30 for each additional program

Distance Learning


Virtual Classroom Presentation

Wednesday, September 19 is our 8th annual Homeschool Open House.

Utilizing video conferencing equipment or web based distance learning sites (Zoom, Skype, etc.), Zoo staff will connect with students in their classroom to discover a life science topic with support from animal videos and live animals.

Virtual Field Trip Times are available Monday through Friday at 9:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 3:30 pm. If you need a custom time, please email us at education@toledozoo.org.

Camps and Overnights


Kids' Night Out

Parents enjoy a night off while we watch the kids! Take the night off while the kids spend the evening at the zoo enjoying, games, crafts, and a chance to meet a live zoo animal! Parents drop off your kids at 6:00 pm and pick them up by 9:00 pm. Pizza will be provided.

Ages 5-12

Members: $25 Non-members: $30

Dates:

March 15: Nocturnal Animals- When the lights go out, animals come out to prowl. Discover some of our nocturnal Zoo residents and how they adapt to the dark.

April 12: Zookeeper Fun- It's a lot of work to take care of all of our Zoo animals. Learn the many things zookeepers do through fun games and challenges.


Spring Break Camp

Looking for something fun to do over Spring Break? Your child can join the Toledo Zoo at Spring Break Camp! They will experience non-stop fun with exciting exhibit tours, amazing animal visitors, cool crafts and goofy games. All camps run 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, and children can sign up for just one or more. This is a great way to be active during a school break. Participants must be ages 5-10years.

Members: $40 per day
Non-members: $45 per day

Animal Tales

Animal Tales is a 3 week series designed for 3-5 year old children and an adult. Children will sing songs, read stories, play games, make crafts, and meet live animals!

Members: $20

Animal Tours and Experiences


Reef Tank Feed and Aquarium Behind-the-Scenes Tour

Tour the Toledo Zoo’s historic Aquarium, including the 90,000 gallon Coral Reef where you will get the opportunity to feed over 20 species of fish. You will be able to see the Aquarium before the Zoo opens, marine species that are not yet on exhibit, and the incredible process that brings the Aquarium to life! This walking tour lasts approximately 45 minutes.

*Zoo admission fees are not included in tour ticket prices; admission tickets must be purchased online to accompany your tour entrance.

Penguin Encounter and Aviary Feed

This special encounter with some of the Zoo’s penguins will give you a behind-the-scenes look at the housing facility for our African penguins and special insight into what it takes to care for a colony of flightless birds. Afterwards, you’ll tour the Zoo's Aviary kitchen and participate in a feed at a bird exhibit! This walking tour lasts approximately 45 minutes.

Ambassador Animal Encounter in Nature's Neighborhood

Get up close and personal with many of the Toledo Zoo’s Animal Ambassadors. On this tour, great for all ages, you will meet animals that are normally only seen on our special programs. This walking tour lasts approximately 25 minutes. Please note, children under 5 are not permitted to touch any reptiles due to animal handling protocols.

Elephant Training Session and Behind-the-Scenes Tour

Tour the facility that houses our four African elephants and learn about care practices. This training session is an opportunity for you to see the true intelligence of these amazing animals, as well as an opportunity for us to show you how it contributes to the health and well being of our animals. You will get an insight into our elephants’ favorite snacks and enrichment all while being guided by a zookeeper who cares for these giants every day.

This walking tour lasts approximately 45 minutes. Please note - there will be no guest contact with the elephants during the tour and the training session will be on the opposite side of a safety barrier.

Cheetah Encounter and Behind the Scenes Tour

Go behind-the-scenes for your very own guided tour of our cheetah facility, where you will not only meet our three brothers but also watch an enrichment feeding. You will learn about all the hard work and great care that go into keeping our cats healthy. This walking tour lasts approximately 45 minutes.

Galapagos Tortoise Encounter with Reptile House Tour

During this tour, you will have an inside look at the day in the life of a herpetologist. You will have the opportunity to get up close to and touch Emerson, our Galapagos tortoise. But your tour wouldn’t be complete without your behind-the-scenes look at our historic reptile house and the reptile giants that inhabit it. This walking tour lasts approximately 45 minutes.

Meet our three red pandas and explore their Primate Forest outdoor exhibits. *This walking tour will last approximately 35 minutes
